Design Led By Women
Founder Hila Hemo built a studio where design and construction decisions come from the same people, so details survive the trip from drawing to job site.
Design build remodels, additions and ADUs for Encino homes on both sides of Ventura Boulevard, planned and built by one licensed team.
Encino stretches from the Sepulveda Basin up into the Santa Monica Mountains, with the 405 along its eastern edge and Ventura Boulevard running through the middle. North of the boulevard you find postwar ranch homes, the streets of Encino Village and larger lots around Lake Encino. South of it, Royal Oaks, Amestoy Estates and Rancho Estates climb into the hills with custom homes, gated drives and old oaks. Home remodeling in Encino means being fluent in both.
Construction by Maya is a women led design build studio on Park Granada in Calabasas, a short drive west on the 101. We already have an ADU in Encino in our portfolio. One team draws your plans, takes them through LADBS, the City of Los Angeles building department, and then builds the work. You never have to referee between a designer, an engineer and a contractor who have never met.
Pick a service to see how we approach it in Encino. Each one is designed, permitted and built by the same team, whether your house is a flat lot ranch near Balboa Boulevard or a hillside home below Mulholland Drive.
Big Encino kitchens often carry 1980s and 1990s layouts with bulky islands and dark cabinetry. We rework them into rooms that cook well and host well.
Primary baths in older hillside homes tend to be generous in size but tired underneath. We rebuild them with modern waterproofing, curbless showers and real ventilation.
Flat lots north of Ventura Boulevard are usually the strongest ADU candidates. Hillside parcels in fire zones can face tighter limits, so we check yours first.
Many Encino lots have room to grow. We design additions that match the existing roofline and keep setbacks, trees and drainage in order.
Plenty of Encino buyers purchase an older house to remake it. We handle full renovations that replace systems, rework the plan and refinish every room.
Hot Valley summers and big yards make outdoor rooms worth building. We add shade, outdoor kitchens and decks engineered for the slope.
Encino homes range from modest ranch houses near the Sepulveda Basin to gated estates above Ventura Boulevard. Our approach adapts to the house instead of forcing one formula on it.

We are a licensed California general contractor carrying general liability and workers comp insurance, and we will show you both before you sign.
Our Calabasas office is a short drive away, so meeting your inspector, your arborist or a curious neighbor never waits long.
You receive an itemized scope and schedule up front, so the budget conversation happens before demolition and not halfway through it.
Encino is a City of Los Angeles neighborhood. We prepare drawings, pull permits and book every inspection with LADBS on your behalf.
We take on a limited number of jobs at a time, which keeps our senior team close to each Encino project.
Encino takes its name from the oaks that once covered this part of the Valley, and many lots still hold mature coast live oaks. The City of Los Angeles protects native oaks and a few other native species, such as western sycamore, so an addition, ADU or new patio near one needs careful planning and sometimes an arborist report and tree permit. We map trees early, so the design works around them instead of colliding with them during plan check.
Terrain matters just as much. Lots south of Ventura Boulevard usually bring City hillside rules, geology and grading review and fire zone requirements. Some hillside parcels in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone face real limits on new ADUs. The flats north of the boulevard are simpler to build on but often hide original plumbing and small electrical service. We check zoning, slope and hazard records for your address before you pay for plans.
Send us your address and a few photos. We will tell you plainly whether your goals fit the lot, the trees and the City rules, and what the next step should cost, before you commit to anything.

Every project follows the same five stages, so you always know what comes next.
We meet at your Encino home, walk the property including slopes, trees and access, and talk through your goals and budget.
Our designers turn that conversation into layouts and selections, then refine them with you until they feel right.
We complete construction drawings, coordinate any engineering, submit to LADBS and lock the final scope and schedule.
One project manager runs the site, keeps your home protected and sends you regular progress updates.
We review every finish together, complete the punch list and close out permits before we call the job done.
Encino houses tend to have space to work with, which opens more doors than most Los Angeles neighborhoods offer. You might turn a detached garage on a flat lot into a guest unit, add a primary suite facing the backyard, or modernize a 1990s Mediterranean interior that feels heavy and dark. Our job is to show you which ideas your house supports and what each one realistically costs.
